Creating Google App

YouTube generator is working through the Google API, which requires some “work” on your part, you will need to create a Google app to access the data stored on YouTube. There is one limitation in it, that you can’t request more then 50 videos, so the group result*slides number has to be between 0 and 50.

Creating Google App

Steps

  1. Go to this page: https://cloud.google.com/console/project
  2. create_project
  3. Click on Create Project, give a name to the API, if this is your first, then accept the Terms of Service and click on Create

  7. Go to APIs & auth -> APIs, roll down to YouTube Data API v3, and click on OFF in the right side of the page (so it will turn it on)

  9. Go to Consent screen, select an EMAIL ADDRESS, add a PRODUCT NAME, then Save on it

  11. Go to Credentials, and click on CREATE NEW CLIENT ID

  13. Go to your website’s backend -> Smart Slider Settings -> YouTube generator, and copy the Callback url

  15. Write your website’s address into the Authorized JavaScript origins, and insert the copied Callback url into Authorized redirect URI, then click on Create Client ID

  17. Copy the CLIENT ID and the CLIENT SECRET from the Client ID for web application

  19. Insert these into the Smart Slider Settings -> YouTube generator, and click on Request token

  21. Grant permission to your API, and save the Settings when the token is there.

If you haven’t used the generator of Smart Slider 2, please check the common generator documentation before you continue. Those informations are important to understand the following section. You could also try to create your generator with Dynamic slider and you will have a basic generator with much less effort.

You can choose the search term and Smart Slider will generate the slides depending on the result.

By playlist

Smart Slider 2 will list the playlist which are available on your account and you can select one to generate slider.
